An epidemic is sweeping the nation: countless Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs), bred with an innate drive to protect, are being surrendered to shelters. These noble dogs, full of potential, are often denied the chance to fulfill their purpose due to improper placements, life-altering circumstances, or medical emergencies. Owners, desperate to do right by their dogs, face overwhelming choices, harsh online criticism, and a broken system where shelters are a step away from euthanasia and most rescues can’t place these dogs on working farms. We knew this had to change.

LGDs are born to work. Their instinct to guard and protect isn’t just a trait—it’s their essence. Too often, these dogs are placed in pet homes without a purpose, leading them to create their own “jobs,” often with disastrous results. While exceptions exist, most LGDs thrive in environments where they have a role, space to roam, and a job to do.

At Rizn Second Chance LGDs, our mission is to be a beacon of hope for these majestic dogs, their owners, and the farms that need them. We provide a compassionate, safe space for owners facing the heart-wrenching decision to rehome their dogs, ensuring their beloved companions find proper, purpose-driven homes. Each dog is carefully observed and evaluated, with a tailored profile to match them to the ideal environment. Likewise, every potential home is thoroughly vetted to ensure a perfect fit based on the dog’s unique personality and temperament.

Our commitment doesn’t end with placement. We stand behind every dog, offering lifetime support to new owners and a guarantee that no dog in our program will ever end up in a shelter again. If circumstances change, we welcome them back to find a new home. At Rizn, we’re not just saving dogs—we’re preserving their legacy as guardians, one successful placement at a time.
